B.O.S.S. is committed to ethical conduct, a safe and inclusive workplace, and accountability in all operations. 

We uphold integrity in our programs, contracts, and internal practices, especially those supported by U.S. government funds. All employees, contractors, volunteers, program partners, and stakeholders are expected to follow our values and report violations without fear of retaliation. This guidance outlines how to report concerns, what types of complaints we review, and how we respond.

Who Can Report a Concern?

We welcome concerns from: 

  • Employees, interns, and volunteers 

  • Contractors and vendors 

  • Program participants and beneficiaries 

  • Members of the public 

Reports may be made confidentially or anonymously. All reports are taken seriously and handled sensitively. 

What Should Be Reported

You should report suspected misconduct or violations, including but not limited to: 

  • Harassment or discrimination 

  • Fraud, theft, or embezzlement 

  • Bribery or kickbacks 

  • Misuse of nonprofit funds or assets 

  • Unsafe or abusive workplace behavior 

  • Whistleblower retaliation 

  • Conflicts of interest 

  • Violations of federal, state, or local laws 

  • Misstatements in financials or falsified records 

  • Breaches of data security or privacy 

  • Any retaliation for reporting concerns in good faith

B.O.S.S. strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who: 

  • Files a complaint or concern in good faith 

  • Participates in an investigation or internal review 

  • Requests legally protected accommodations or leave 

  • Reports wage and hour violations or unsafe conditions 

Retaliation of any kind—including intimidation, threats, demotion, or termination—will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

How to Report

If you see or experience misconduct, report it as soon as possible. Here’s how: 

 

Internal Reporting Options: 

  • Direct Supervisor or HR: Recommended for most employee concerns

Confidential Whistleblower Reporting Line: (771) 213-0611 

For anonymous reporting of serious or sensitive concerns, especially those involving: 

  • Financial misconduct 

  • Legal/regulatory violations 

  • Harassment, abuse, or discrimination 

  • Retaliation or unsafe work conditions 

Use the confidential line for anonymous submissions.

What Happens After You Report?

Reports are reviewed by our Compliance Officer or designated investigator. Steps include: 

  • Acknowledgment of your report (unless anonymous) 

  • Independent investigation or escalation to our Legal/HR team 

  • Appropriate corrective actions 

  • Feedback or resolution notice when possible 

Emergencies

  • If there is an immediate threat to safety or life, contact 911 or your local emergency services. B.O.S.S.’s reporting systems are not substitutes for law enforcement.
